Over this bridge I drove, on Sept 9,2006 as my husband and I were moving our family and all our belongings, our whole life, from NH down to Inverness Fl. As I was I was approaching the bridge, completely unaware of the height, width or severity of the crosswinds, my cat, whom I had let out of her kennel to use her litter box, came into the front of the car and was trying to make her way under the steering wheel as I grabbed her body and held with all my might for dear life and she dug with all her might her claws into my leg, and with my other hand I'm holding onto the steering wheel for dear life as the crosswinds begin to further diminish my ability to control the car. Quite a bridge.

It's a bridge, so it sure beats swimming. But in all seriousness, the toll is 6 dollars round trip with MD EZpass or 8 dollars cash or out of state EZpass going northbound. The US 40 bridge is the same price. If you want to cheap out and not pay a toll going north, you have to go up to US 1. That crossing is free but takes much longer, and time is money. Still, this bridge is way overpriced. The Delaware Memorial Bridge, which is way bigger and more impressive (and probably safer...), is only 4 dollars round trip cash or EZpass going southbound.

Bridge is susceptible to high wind gusts. Dangerous crossing for high profile vehicles.
