Update************I have been using Cintas for the last two years at the Jewelry school I own and operate. I paid my bill off today and attempted to cancel service. I think Cintas practices extortionate methods.
The only reason I continued with them over repeated billing disputes was that the delivery/service man is an incredible worker. If I had a job available for him I would hire him immediately. The accounting department is another story, I have been repeatedly overbilled and spent countless hours to effect the corrections. Meanwhile Cintas will report you as late while you are disputing spurious charges.
The accounts payable person called me this morning after I replied to her payment request with the news that I would pay this last bill and wanted to discontinue service immediately. She would not take payment. I called the Sales Manager John Maloney to be told that I have a 60 month agreement and would have to remain against my will. I replied I would much rather give that money to a lawyer than Cintas. The Manager is coming by tomorrow, I never signed a 60 month agreement and I am livid at the callous way the accounts payable personnel treat their customers.
UPDATE******
I successfully cancelled my service, Now, I told The sales manager not to come to my studio, under any circumstances, unless he was willing to cancel my service. He came anyway, accompanied by a very large black man in a Cintas uniform who had never serviced my account, spoken with me, had anything to do with my dealings with Cintas. I told John Maloney, my sales manager, that I did not appreciate the fact of him bringing someone I did not know to my studio, that I considered his visit an attempt at coercion, told the other guy that he had nothing to say regarding my contract and I did not want to hear anything from him. After Maloney repeatedly telling me I was going to have to pay 50 percent of the contract to cancel, these individuals acted in what I suppose was meant to be an intimidating manner. I told them I would spend it on a lawyer and that they had 30 seconds to get the f#@k out of my studio.
The next day I spoke to a senior facility manager, I recounted my experiences with Cintas and him that the one thing that would NEVER happen is any kind of financial settlement. That I planned to use that money to fight Cintas.
I told him that as a young man I had had extensive experience as a community organizer, doing direct actions. I explained my situation and told him my plan for the next Cintas board meeting. I would rent a big yellow bus, drive to Cinncinati, hire a busload of the most belligerent, dirty, disreputable homeless people I could find, outfit them with signs and football helmets, alert all local media and picket the board meeting with signage outlining their extortionate practices. If that did not work I would begin picketing outside board members homes until I recieved a hearing.
My sales manager John Maloney contacted me the very next day to inform me that Cintas had decided to cancel my contract with no penalty, effective immediately.
