I went to ChoiceOne after a week of severe constipation. I had been at the ER the week before for a burst cyst and I was suffering the side effects of the painkillers. I was doubled over in agony. First I had to wait one hour and 30 minutes to be seen. Then after two minutes of examination, the nurse practitioner said, "there is nothing I can do." I was not expecting an X-ray to show me my intestines was backed up or colonoscopy to show if I have cancer. I was in a lot of pain!! She suggested I take over-the-counter laxatives and wait it out a couple of days. So, I went home with two more days of agony. When I could no longer take it, I went to another urgent care. Not only it took me 10 minutes to be seen, but also the nurse was stunned how ChoiceOne could have said there was nothing they could do. She gave me a prescription and in less than an hour I was free from pain. Few weeks later, I got a bill for over 150 dollars for barely 5 minutes of examination and a useless treatment. It's criminal how they charge! That whole visit left me thinking how incompetent and unknowlegable the provider could have been. Didn't she know the laxative she suggested was a preventative not a solution to the amount of agony I was in?! Overall, very disappointed. Definitely will not go back and will not suggest others to do so either.
This place is new and the nurse and front desk staff were extremely kind and friendly, which are pretty much the only reason it got any stars. I arrived and was the only person in the waiting area, yet I was told it would be over an hour wait because there was only one doctor. While I waited it seemed there was some group there getting a tour of the facilities (looked like other professionals), and apparently they took priority over seeing patients. Once I was finally in to see the doctor, I was told I had a sinus infection. Apparently this doctor doesn’t give antibiotics for this, which was very strange to me. After some discussion, he agreed to prescribe me an antibiotic. I informed him the one he was planning on giving me had made me sick in the past and had also not worked on previous sinus infections for me. He told me this was the only one he used so take it or leave it. Overall, I did not feel heard or respected as a patient. Additionally, the bathroom wasn’t very clean and the soap dispenser was either moldy or extremely dirty. Disappointing on all front. I will not be back.
